Here she is guys! Took it out today for its maiden voyage and it felt great!! Only thing I didnt care for was the thumb throttle felt unusually stiff, my thumb was getting tired pretty quick. Is this a common problem? Something a little WD40 might fix?

just replace the throttle cable and lube up everything else. They are cheap enough and its always nice to have a spare. Never fails to amaze me how much smoother is is when you put a spanky new one in there.

Good advice. Depending on how old that cable is, it's probably ready to be replaced. While you're at it, replace the clutch cable. New cables really do make a huge improvement for $10 a piece.

if you buy new cables it wouldn't hurt to lube them both up before you put them on the quad, a little WD-40 works well. especially the clutch cable i put a new one on and it was so stiff so i just sprayed some WD-40 in it.

My thumb throttle is a bit stiff.....hurt my thumb 1st couple times i drove it.

Clutch lever is a pain too.
(want to get a msr lever and perch...hear they are nice)

Seat is hard as a rock too........find myself riding standing up to relieve my *** or sitting on my right leg after a few hours of riding.

And this is a brand new bike.

I've only had my new (to me) 2001 400EX out once too, and after about 10 minutes my thumb was killing me. On the nest stop I worked the throttle on an 06 Predator and there was no comparison. The pred took about a tenth of the effort to push the throttle. So as soon as I got back I took off the cable and lubed the piss out of it. It worked smoothly enough, but it was still to hard to push. So I pulled out the spring in the thumb throttle housing. It's still heavier than the predator, but a lot better. The next step is to cut the carburetor spring, but we'll see how my ride turns out today.
