ok, i am hopefully going to be selling my quad next month but i have a bit of a problem....

about four weeks ago i wrecked my quad. the only thing that happened is i flipped it over onto the bars, it slid just a BIT, then it rolled back onto the tires. now, i have recieved all the parts neccessary to make it look stock again, to fix what WAS broken. so i did that today. i woke up and went outside to start putting on some parts (steering stem, bars, controls ON bars) and i put the key in, pulled the choke and w/ one push of the button it started RIGHT UP (keep in mind i havent even tried to start it in about four weeks). it ran fine, idle fine, then started to bog a bit so i turned up the idle just a tad to keep it from bogging while i took off the tarp and the lock. it shut off, then i started it right back up, no problems. well, it shut off about three minutes later and i havent been able to get it started back up SINCE. the battery has enough charge, i tried push starting it down a great big hill. now when i wrecked, i highly doubt that anything happened to the motor, or atleast i cant see what could have happened to it that would prevent it from starting. it has plenty of gas, battery has enough charge.......im basically lost! anyone w/ any advice on what to check, what to look at?! i've got the quad back to normal/stock appearence, but i cant seem to get it started now. im crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that it is just b/c its been sitting for four weeks untouched.......but at the same time i do not understand why it started NO problem twice then shut off and now wont start.

someone please help! im trying to sell this next month and i need to get it fixed!

i was told to take apart the carb and spray it with carb cleaner, and clean the carb bowl, that THAT is probably my problem. and i was also told to check the spark plug.

either of these sound about right?

Yeah the sparkplug is probably fouled. Try the plug before going into the carb.

Plug is probably fouled or the gas is bad.Clean the carb and I bet it will run fine.Did you have the gas turned off while it sat?Did you remember to turn the gas on:D

gas was on while it sat, and gas WAS on when i started it.

im am hoping so badly that its the plug though. i dont want to take the carb apart and mess w/ it at all

your carb is probably gunked up from having gas sitting in the bowl for 4 week its not hard all you have to do is take it apart slowly clean it all out and remember how to put it back together
