A buddy of mine said that the 06 450rs needed rebuilt after 60 hours run time because of the short piston skirt. He works at a Honda dealership and said they recently received a bulletin. I was curious if anyone was having a problem with this. I cant believe Honda would let a problem of that size slide through.

I havent see any bulletins like that here at the dealership I work for. But if you look in the crf450 service manual wich is about the same top end as the newer 06-07 trx top ends. The manual says to replace the piston and rings every 15 hours. Not saying i would follow their maintence chart to the T. But 60 hours of hard riding its probaly due. Rember these are not the four strokes of old they do need some upkeep. Thats just my opinion

60hours is way too long to wait in my opinion. i know the crf manual says 15 hours not sure what the 06 trx manual says but i wouldnt wait my longer then 30 hours.

A ( clocked) 60 hours of riding time on one of these motors is alot. I will rebuild mine around there ( I do not race ,if I did I would before 60). I put 50 hours on my CRF before rebuild and it was doo... The TRX motor on average works harder. Just my 2cents.:)

If you want to go 200 hours before a rebuild you should have bought a 400 ex.........;)
