The first thing you read in every thread about the 500 is it is heavy. Granted it is heavier than the 450's, but MX was not in its original design. It was made to be a kick *** trail machine. It has reverse and Polaris acknowledges that it will take extra strength over the lightness.

Most of the time the weight bashing always comes from non-predator owners. The weights given by manufacturers are dry weight. Not too many people I know run their bikes with no oil, no coolant and no gas though.

I have read several reviews with the Predator being compared to different quads and the weight ends up being very close to each other in riding conditions. In fact one review put the Raptor 700 1 lb heavier than the Preddy.

What is the REAL truth?

In my short time riding my Pred, I haven't found the weight to be an issue. I ride trail and sand pits, and it's not bad.

I rode on on an mx track and it out handled and out performed my 400ex but i got tired more easily on it. SO on a track you can feel the difference but as far as im concerned the predator makes up for it in the power and suspension department!
