Starter issues....I think

Ok here's the deal. I just rebuilt my whole engine, bottom and top end. I went out to ride the other day and it was running great. I come off of a tabletop around my 5th or 6th lap around the track, and the old ex dies on me. So I hit the start button and get nothing but a spinning noise. I tried to have my buddy bump start me but it won't stay running. I took off the starter gear plate and nothing is stripped, I can figure out what's wrong?? I need some help...I'm starting to lose the reason I bought the thing for....lately it's honda reliability my *****! I'll try to snap some pics to post up.

Ok I can rebuild my entire engine but I've got no clue as to what the starter clutch is or where it's located. I've got no manual so anyone got pics of what I'm looking for? Thanks....sorry if it seems dumb....
