Just bought a 86' lt250 quadracer, motor runs good, needs new clutch, other than that its ok, definetly needs new plastics. Other than suspension upgrades, what would be the best investment on the motor to make this a fast duner? I dont think i need to go as far as a stroker crank or alcohol, but i was wondering what mods could be done relatively cheap (under $1500) to beat my buddies who ride banshees, raptors, and lt450r, only mods they got are pipes, jets, and k&n's COuld this be done on a budget? or should I not waste my time and ride the classic when i put in a new clutch? Thanks guys_

i have a 86 quadracer 250 too. Im in the middle of making it in to a hybrid with a z400 motor. The firtst things u should do is get a pipe and silencer. i had a fmf fatty that was on mine. The reason im building a hybird is beacause the main barrings let loose and my bottom end is junk. Look in to a-arms and works shocks. http://www.everything2stroke.com/ will have more info.

the rm cylinders only work on the 87-92 modle year quadracer 250's i was goin to do that to my quadracer but u cant put a power valve cylinder on a non powervalve case. im building my quadracer for mx i was goin to use a z400 motor but i love the feel of a 2 stroke. i have a fmf fatty and power core slincer 80mm bore. im gettting the main barrings put in thisa winter cuse they blew my stator out. im getting it ported and polished and some power reeds. im getting +2 a-arms not shure what kind yet abd maybe elka shocks or i might start the season on stockers for a race or two. the rearend im putting a 88 -92 axle and using z400 hubs to have a bolt pattern the same as my dads z400 and my 300ex. im not shure if im goin to put a cool head on it or not but i would like to.

No a rm250 cylinder will fit the lt250r(85 and 86).Im not sure what year cylinder maybe even the same year bike not sure,i seen it on the web a while back. The porting specs are a lot more agressive on the bike.;)

u prolly did see it on a web site but u prolly saw the later years with the rm cylinder. the 86 rm cylinder and the 86 lt cylinder is totaly differnt. the 85-86 rm250's have power valves and the lt do not. the 86 cylinder off the rm do's have better ports and its a great cylinder for a 87-92 lt motor. i did look for a 84 rm 250 cylinder and there still differnt with the way they mount. http://forums.everything2stroke.com/lt250-quadracer/10396-suzuki-lt250-rm250-hybrid-motor-redneck-rebuild.html?highlight=rm250+cylinder

I was thinking of getting a port job form ftz racing, but it seems expensive, Does anyone know their specs, so that my local machine shop can do the bore and port job? That would save alot of money. I think i might go with thier head as well, and definetly a pipe and silencer kit, all i can find is the FMF and the DG (which i heard sucks). Will post some pics

FMF and DG dont suck but there not the best. theres not much for a 86 out there.i have the fmf fatty and im goin to keep it because its a pipe i dont have to buy. the fmf and dg are good cheap pipes. i would have your local shop do the porting and bore because its goin to cost alot for ftz to do it but they do great work. CT racing can build you a pipe if u want to have a good expencive pipe.
