250R 86' starter problem

:confused: I've got a 250R fourtrax. Starter clicks once per turn of the key. Several trys ago it used to go click-click-click. Where is the Starter? How do I find the solenoid? Can I convert it to a pull start? I checked with the local Honda dealer and the starter is $430 if it's not the relay, but how do I test the relay,... starter,... solenoid?
I have started it with the kick and it runs fine but the kick start is an ankle-biter.!
Perplexed because I'm normally mechanically inclined,

I'm not sure of an answer, but it sounds like you have the right section. I know that Honda made a Utility 4trx 250, my friend has one, since you have a starter, that would eliminate it from being a 250r, because they are Kick Starts.
