efi 450r?

i was just reading transworld motorcross and saw that ppl have seen that honda is testing a efi crf450r that may come out for 08. was wondering if anyone heard anything about this and do u think that if the crf goes to efi will the 450r as well?

It will eventually. My guess is if it doesn't get EFI in 08' it will get it for 09'. Same with the YFZ.

I won't expect to see an increases in absolute power vs. a properly tuned FCR. But throttle response should be improved in many (most?) cases.

I do think EFI will be an advantage for most people. "Jetting" will be harder to screw up and the EFI systems will make adjustments for temperature and elevation automatically. They'll almost ceratainly be open-loop EFI systems (like the Raptor700 and LT-R). That means they won't be able to adjust for intake and exhaust mods--we'll need add-on EFI controllers for that--but they'll adapt to the environment nicely.

Some folks claim to have reached the limits of the LT-R's system. But only becuase they're building massive HP engines and the stock injectors and other components can only do so much. These folks are in the minority though. It'll take some more time before the aftermarket catches up--but it will.

I agree...it's inevitable. Technology has to catch up at one point or another.

A local shop says its a definite confirmation Honda will be EFI in 2008. Using the basis of the RINCON 4x4 they used as its trial and error this year 2006. 2007 will be its CRF test year for "SPY" photos. Released for 2008. 450r's may see it also for 08, but definite in 09!

IMO, honda needs somethin to increase sales a little bit. :rolleyes:

i think when they do the efi they should make it race ready stock like the zuki...tires a arms, axle..ect

i dont think where too far away from seeing MX and XC models of each quad, honda already does it with there dirt bikes.

08 trx will be efi. Herd it from a Honda rep. Asked about suspension, he said...no comment...dont buy an 07.

I love EFi myself. I have played with it enough to get into trouble.

yup i see honda using efi in '08 or '09 since they change everything on the r every couple of years and try to rob people like me (with 04's & 05's) by coming out with a totally different 06 that has e start and its fancy suspension and motor "upgrades" to make it "faster" than past years to expect me to get money out of my money tree and trade my 04 in for an 06 or 07 then come out with efi...they did it once they will do it again.

Honda needs to make the R MX ready like the LT-R and leave the ER like it is for the woods guys, suspention and width that is.

I'd like to see somthing like that too. I mean, like someone already mentioned: the dirt bikes get that kind of specialization, why not the sport quads?
