Hey yeah i let my friend drive my quad (big mistake cuz he doesnt know how to drive) and he pretty much drove it around redlined in first for 4-5 minutes while i tried to flag him down. and now when i start up my quad itll idle for about 20-25 seconds and then burn oil for 10-12 seconds and then after that its alright. im thinking he might have fried the rings on it.what do you guys think?

Whens the last time you rebuilt your quad? Maybe it was just time for a rebuild, at it just so happened you noticed after he rode it, im burning oil BAD, warmed up or just starting. Just starting im burning it really bad but once it gets wamred up it starts to burn less oil, but it never stops burning. So I ordered a piston kit last week.

I think your rings could be fried, but it's not his fault, its time for rebuild as I said before (if you havent rebuilt it).

my quad only has at most 20 hours on a $2200 engine job with new everything (crank seals piston rings etc) and it never burnt a drop of oil before he rode it

i always keep my quad topped up with oil. it only burns it about 20-25 seconds after i start it up and then it only burns for maybe 10-12 seconds and then it quits. im hoping its just the rings because that is a fairly cheap fix and im on a very strict budget

it also only burns oil sometimes when i start it in the morning so id say 1 out of 2 times i start it it burns oil. so what do you guys think?rings or valve seals?

If it only smokes after startup when it's been sitting for a bit then that's likely the valve seals.

GPracer2500 If it only smokes after startup when it's been sitting for a bit then that's likely the valve seals. X2 i just had to do my valve seals it was smoking alittle on start up and when you really opened it up it would smoke alot plus you can get the whole top end kit for $20 its cheap and easy to do
