what is up with that shiney truck in the background you could have thrown a wicked roost at it lol jk they should have more threads like this for us riders who dont have to put 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000 bucks in our quads just to go have fun bone stock is alot better to get dirty than $1000000 of chrome and all that other cash u just dumped into it

for me the only after stock part i ever need is GAS WOOO HOOO:blah: :blah:    :D :D :D

well, it actually aint that shiney...it is an 03 Chevy DuraMax, that i also got stuck...bad thing is, that it is my friends mothers truck. it took a little bit of work to get it out. it also has street tires on it, that suck big time. i had the frame sitting on the ground, while on level ground:D

Yea...this one is all stock, but it did come w/ the rear locking diff, and where we were stuck, there was an 06 F-250 powerchoker 6-speed w/ a 6 inch lift turning 35's, a 98 ish dodge 1500, a ford ranger. they were telling us that we were never going to be able to get it out, but we did. we had it at 3200-3500 rpm's...all you heard was the turbo whinning and the mud slinging:D

I dont have any pics, but in its muddiest state, my 400 has probaly had less than a pound of mud on it! where i ride, it doesnt rain much so its usually dry. I do try to avoid mud somewhat, because every time i hit a pile of mud, the first thing that goes through my head is "Ah F*CK im gonna have to clean all this off".

this is from last year after a race, i had to wash it before the second race because they marked me as a DNF because they couldnt read my number plates. second race wasnt as muddy and i stayed out towards the front where wheres less mud, thats why it aint as bad

what you mean tall handlebars? most of the guys around me are on a budget so i got the $12 handlebars, but yea i do like tall bars. otherwise my back hurts

krt400ex
11-13-2008, 07:24 AM
taller people need taller bars, otherwise you hunch over them too much, especially when you are stood up and pounding whoops. my bars are much taller than stock too

From earlier today. Thought the track would be a little more dry than this . . . damn red clay sticks like glue. Almost an hour at the car wash trying to get it all off.

What a coincidence, just this year we went to laurel and it was when it was like this. We got our truck stuck and everything. I also took a picture of my 400 in the exact same spot, I'll have to get that picture up. How terrible is it up there when it rains? haha i was pissed.

I will post some more later how did you keep the cooling fins so clean?

77rigid
11-19-2008, 07:35 PM
All I can figure is that the air scoops and the oil tank kept the fins shielded.

Anybody ever use WD-40 to try to make the mud not stick?

tx07400ex
12-22-2008, 07:58 PM
never tried wd40 i use armorall wipes sometimes and mud doesnt stick to it as well but dust sticks to it horribly

yep, i try to use it every time i finish washing it, but its sorta bad when you need to lube something and i used all the WD on my plastics haha

Gibson
12-22-2008, 08:18 PM
if u put a few nice coats of wax on your plastics after u wash your quad, the mud doesn't stick as much and its easier to clean too.

it gets down right nasty when it rains over there. i used to have pics of my yz80 from a trip over there. it was so caked it stopped moving after an hour, you couldnt tell where the motor was at all. it was a solid chunk of mud.

Laurel has the nastiest mud I've been in and that day I was talking about we seen a foremen pulling out a vw van. No joke that day i probably had 75 pounds of mud on my quad. I was pissed.
