A really big hammer

I haven't done it on a 450 but I can tell ya the basics

Take the hubs off
loosen the chain
take the chain off
take off the nut that holds the brake disc and sproket hub on.
Take your rear brak caliper off
slide the sprocket hub off
Slide the brake disc off
Slide the axle out.

IMO i would always loosen the axle nut with the wheels and chain on the quad. if you don't it wil be a b*tch

I always make somone hold the brake.

You can mismatch the steps. I just typed as I thought lol.

i dont remember what, but its so much easier if some of the components are tight before taking off other things. i guess i'll figure that out again when i have to take it off again :D

definitly loosen the lock nut BEFORE you lift it and remove the tires and wheels..the out lock nut will spin towards the ground to loosen and the axle nut spin upward toward the bike..all the other information is correct..just be really careful when removing the cotter pins that go thru the hubs..if you bend them you will play hell trying to get them back in..if there is a tractory supply company around you they sell a 60mm crescent wrench that works perfectly for axle removal..

I agree, loosen the locknut before doing anything else. We had to heat my stock one up to get it to move. I suggest just getting a different locknut, like a Rad. They are good for around $45 or so.
