well i just got my first truck the other day,and im gettin ready to insure it and go through inspection, well i was talkin to one of my friends and he said since i have a 9in lift on it that i have to go get it tip-tested since the law says anyhting over 6in lift has to be tip-tested,is there really a law here in NJ saying that? i have never heard of that before, did any of you guys have to get that done? im just seeing if its true or not so if you know anything about it let me know! thanks!

just go to some gas station and get your iinspection sticker there. As far as your lift your insurance wont really know about the lift so ive never heard of it. I know alot of people in NJ with illegal lift kits who have never had a problem

That could be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.......so what if you fail, your truck tips over. Who pays for that??

theres like a sidling ramp you pull up on so your like driving on the slope... its not that bad... you shouldnt have any trouble passing...

Does it say anything over 6" suspension lift? or total lift? Because your truck has a hefty body lift on it. What is your suspension lift? How many inches? Oh, I'm not sure about where you are, but here in MI a body lift can't exceed 3". I think thats a national law, but im not sure.

so if you fail the test, im going to assume that your truck is going to be laying on it's side:huh

lol whats wrong with the bumber i have now? do you mean like put a brush guard on it? lol i also dont have the money to buy a bumber,im saving up to do a 2.5in cowl hood on it and do a stereo system

MoToX199

o and also for the people that asked what happens if it tips over, they strap it down from what i hear lol,but if it does tip,i know one thing and that is that they are paying for it!!! lol

Yeah a brush gaurd would look good on there I think. What exhaust does it have? Also does it have an air intake? The hood won't do much good if you dont have an open air intake instead of the sealed up stock one. Unless your just wanting to cool it off more. :)
For a stereo I'd reccomend getting a Pioneer or Kenwood head unit...Polk, Kenwood, or Alpine speakers or if you wanted to get into the reallll good **** like I'm going to do, go with CDT speakers. As far as sub...There are sooooo many good ones out there..This does not include Sony, Dual etc..there cheap! But, Alpines are good clean sounding subs..Same thing goes with the amp. Alpine, Kenwood ( I have), or if you can get your hands on an old amp that is in good condition that would be the way to go like a Lanzar, Viper etc..They don't make amps like they use to..Yeah I'm a stereo nut. ;)

It might be a good idea to get a new bumper that hangs a little lower for lift laws.

the bumber wont make a difference for the lift laws,as for the stereo i allready put a panasonic head unit in,and im proly goin to do two ten inch subs either alpine,jl,or pioneer, and maybe to mids, and do pionner speakers in the doors,as for exhaust im running flowmaster 40 series but im going to replace them with borla,as for the intake i have a k&n air charger kit(same thing as a cold air intake),im mainly doing the hood for looks not performance

Nice, you did what I did, I replaced all my lights too one color :D
Damn dude, you could stick 37"s or 38" tires under there. I like your truck but It seems like its missing something..Can't quite put my finger on it but..maybe its that you need to polish those wheels up and add some custom chrome handles and other misc. things..:ermm:

I'm running 2 12" Alpines type-s subs...Pretty damn loud when you tune the box to 30hz and its ported  My theroy is If its pre-made box = crap, custom box = sounden good! Especially if a professinal makes it.

Bumpers have everything to do with lift height laws. Bumpers are used for the measuring point if a trooper ever stops you to measure your height. My old S Blazer was a 1/2" under its limit because I had my bumpers lowered just enough to keep legal. I was pulled over and checked and I passed. So you may want to check the legal height, you should be good though on a full size.

I had an old K-5 fullsize blazer with 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift with 35's and had to take my truck for the test. Only certain Inspection stations do it not all of them. All they make you do is drive one of the front tires up a ramp, and when the rear tire on the same side comes off the ground they stop the test. They have measurement marks on the ramp and if your trucks tire dosn't go up to a certain point before the rear tire comes off the ground you fail. The other bad thing is they make YOU drive it up the ramp so if it tips over there not responsable for any damage if it does tip over. When I was there and did mine a while ago they did not strap it to anything. If you think it will tip don't even try it, they have a sign that says if your in doubt don't do it. Good luck.

Also I would not got to a private station to get it inspected just because if you get into an accident and hurt someone they will ask for you tip test paperwork, your also supposed to have a roll-over test sticker right above your inspection sticker. Private stations don't get those and can't give you one of those. I would hate to have a nice truck like that and god forbid get into an accident and not have the right paperwork.

Just my .02c
