Is it even possiable to put a z400 engine in a 250r frame? And if it is wat other parts and stuff would i have to get to make it work? And how much do you think it would cost all together? Thanks.

use a stock, or aftermarket 250r radiator

kicker696 is right you can use the 250r radiator or an aftermarket if you want. even the z400 radiator...just make some mounts. youd need to make some motor mounts, probably a new intake design, the radiator situation, and you need the z400 wiring harness also. (if you use the z400 radiator you can hook it up right into the z400 wiring harness)

why dont you use a better engine? any 450 engine, ktm 525, yz426 anything but a time bomb like the z400

doug gust was racing one with the DRZ engine (same) years before the Z400 came out. Its certainly possible, but no longer a good choice

because he wants to prove to ppl that a z400 motor in a 250r chassis is possible

I say the z400 because it's a liquid cooled quad motor in a quad. Plus electric start and reverse.

keep in mind, Doug Gust was getting new motors and parts almost every race. If the pro's keep the same frame, motor, suspension stuff for 3 races thats alot. Don't judge based on what the pro's use to be able to tell if the stuff lasts. The non-sponsered racers tend to use stuff that lasts, pro's get new stuff every race, their sprockets get replaced between moto's, I'd be shocked if they use the same top end or motor for the whole race!!!! They use whatever they get paid to use.

yeah i was thinking that the z400 engine would be the best its got reverse and it still have a lot of power

The #1 issue I would see in doing this project would be the height of the Z400 motor. I honestly don't think it would fit in a stock frame unless you did some MAJOR modding. If funds allow I would go with an aftermarket frame with 250R geometry where it is already setup for a four stroke motor while still obtaining the excellent handling characteristics of the 250R.
