ok guys...

i am looking at an add in DW about a 440 big bore kit for 219$

it comes w/ the piston kit, sleeve and gasket kit.
what else will i need to do ( besides bore the cylinder) to make everything work?

would i have to get new rings, clips and pins?

what else would i do to make the EX reliable...i dont want to go half ***** and screw something up

, and at an estimate...after all said and done...how much lighter will my wallet feel....( not including shipping)

thanks

You will also need to rejet the carb (maybe go with a bigger one than stock) and add a cam to feel the full power off the kit. you could allways add the cam later.

would an xr400 cam be good enough?

I have been told that it is a very good cam and a lot of 400ex ridders on here use them, but have never used one myself.

That's all you need in that kit for $219. You can add a cam, carb, all that good stuff at anytime. If your not rich, just start with the kit and do one thing at a time as the money comes.

If you want to save yourself a lot of BS you had better do a search. There has been a lot of good info on the 440 and the gains and problems with it.

And make sure you check out the thread "have you decked the cyl" and the Mickey Dunlap tech pages.

Have fun
