Sup fellas.. My last quad I had was a yamaha blaster..

It was really easy to do sit down wheelies and stand up wheelies with the clutch.. And also with no clutch I was able to do it. That was eight month's ago when I had the blaster.

Now I own a brand new 06 YFZ 450, which I had to learn the hard way that its way different.

Alright here it goes what I happened to me when I was messing around with the new bike during the first 5 minutes of just getting it.

I was doing wheelies with just using throttle. I was ridding that thing like if it was a blaster(big mistake). I was even trying to switch gears while doing wheelies(I wasnt able to). Then I decided to try to do stand up wheelies with just the throttle. When I got the bike up, I was going fast and it felt like I was going to grind the grab bar with the concrete. So I taped the rear brakes, I went flying head first straight to the floor. I tried to get up and when I did.... I noticed I had a broken ankle. Ever since I have not rode my YFZ450 because I been waiting on my ankle to heal but Im almost ready.

Now here is the question.. On the YFZ I noticed that the clutch is much harder to pop a wheelie.

Any experts out there want to tell me if I can adjust my clutch for it to be more freely or I just have to learn more about the bike? Or Im just to scared now?

Any advise................

To do wheelies on a YFZ you just yank up on the bars and give them some gas. They have a higher center of gravity then you ole blaster you had so it will feel like it is going to flip backwards. Just practice and you will get the hang of it.

aaaaaaaah, i have a yfz450 man. i think you just need to get used to THAT clutch. i stunt the piss out of mine! i love everything about the yfz for stunting! nice to see you already know brake control! and i had a bit of an accident aswell on mine about four weeks ago. i was doing a seatstander-jump to sitdown and slid off, here's the aftermath.........i cut it on the rear grab bar as the quad flipped over.

as far as shifting the gears while wheeling,it always seemed to me whenever i would get on a new bike it was real hard, but let it get some age and wear on it and itll get easier

Man I switched from a utilty atv to a yfz450 and I'm having trouble getting it to wheelie. I'm not sure if its the yfz or me because I've never had a wheelie quad, but damn its alot of fun to just mess around on.

I have a fear when popping the clutch for some reason when trying to wheelie because second it goes up i let off the throttle i supppose because i think imma flip it because it shoots up so fast, but when I try to do wheelies when its moving and i just hit the throttle without using the clutch, I can only get it to pop in the air for a second then it falls back down again.. guess I have to do more praticing :scary:

That would be a LOWER center of gravity.

And to the people with broken/cut stuff, although it might hinder movements, I think you should invest in some serious riding gear:eek2:

That's the first thing I did when I got out of the hospital.

I invested on boots, pants, ****, chest protector, etc...
