My friend is looking to buy a new quad, hes getting rid of his warrior. I showed him a nice clean Predator (see http://www.louisianasportsman.com/classifieds.php?sec=classifieds&act=full&adID=9641#pictures18857)
for 3500
and out of stupidity, because i didnt want him to buy it but i had to send it to him, i showed him a raptor 660 ( see http://www.louisianasportsman.com/classifieds.php?sec=classifieds&act=full&adID=10310#pictures20277) for 2700

I want him to get the predator, because i know he will regret buying the raptor. He wants the quad with the most power, and for a cheap price. I shouldnt have shown him the raptor.

what do you guys think?

i think you should let him ride your honda. Then he will be sold.

In my opinion there both crappy quads. tell him to wait, he will find that perfect quad.

Tell him to wait and get something like a 450. He will be happier in the long run.

He rides mine all the time.

He loves it, I just want him to buy the predator, he doesn't want the same quad as me.

raptors are good bikes. I would get the raptor. i hate the pred

Are you kidding? The older predators like the 03's are complete garbage. There are so many things wrong. An 02 Raptor is like gold compared to that.

I wouldn't buy either.Look at Z400/KFX400 that would be his best bet.

What's wrong with a Raptor??

All I keep hearing is Raptors are Junk , blah blah blah . I'd like someone to explain exactly WHY they are junk .

I know quite a few people that own Raptors and none of them have had ANY problems ... everything from 1st year productions to the latest technology .

They have plenty of power , a plush ride , reverse and many other nice features .

Having riden both the Predator and the Raptor , I'd spend my money on the Raptor

I don't see why people are complaining about EITHER ONE. I know people who have had the '01 Raptor and the '03 Predator (which I ride all the time) and neither one have had any problems at all!

I think it's a toss up between the Raptor and the Predator, I think they're both great machines that I wouldn't mind owning.

I agree. There is nothing wrong with the 660 Raptors. I bought one new in 2003 and have had no problems whatsoever. It may be a little tippy, but there are plenty of ways to fix this to get them to handle really well. Even stock, they aren't THAT bad handling wise. They have decent suspension from the factory, plus loads of torque. Just my $0.02.

The 700 Raptors are nice..... Now for the crap

Early model raptors. The Carb boots kept popping off causing a airleak, then your quad would die. The fix was suppose to be tighter clamps but then it would just blow a hole in the side of the carb boot and then you suck in dirt and run lean. I think there was another fix, but not sure what it was. Transmisions were going bad. You can buy a upgraded tranny for them. Starters were not up to par. Starter gear would go out.

Predator.
Main things...Heavy very heavy. Who wants a 600lb sport quad? Carb boots would pop off. I heard the transmissions were not up to par and would fail.

Now for your crap. ;)

All those problems were fixed for the second year of production, except for the Predator being heavy...and it wasn't 600lbs, more along the lines of 450lb at the most.

The sad thing is the 400EX and 450R both had first year and second year production problems, but no one seems to ever bring those up. :eek2:

Honestly, if I had $3500 to spend, I would buy the Raptor and throw the extra money into suspension. The biggest problem with the Raptor is the height and wheelbase. The price difference is nearly a thousand dollars. Me, personally, I would be putting a lot more than a grand into the suspension, but just having that $1000 up front would be a great kick-start.

I would buy a Z400 KFX400, something for around $2500 and spend the rest on the Z.

Haha, thanks for seeing the humor in it and not spazzing. Glad to see there's some people around here that don't take offense to everything :p .

As for the starter problem I'm not sure if it was fixed, I'm on YFZCentral quite a bit and there are a few Raptor riders over there and I have yet to hear about any problems with the starter, I have heard of a few with the '01's though.

As for buying a cheap good all-around quad, I would definately go with the Z/KFX/DVX400.

I only get mad when I know I am right.

Like when some argues with me that there stock 400 goes 90MPH:grr:
