My Z has a ticking in the engine at idle? could be cam chain. if so i dont know where the cam chain tightner is. i dont have any engine mechanic knowlege

If you still have an owners manual it should tell you how to adjust your timing chain tensioner. I am not for sure because I bought a repair manual and typically use it.

The timing chain tensioner is a Automatic Adjust Unit, your ticking could be from a Stretched Timing Chain thats out of adjustment range, or improperly adjusted valve's.

see what side of the motor its coming from. if it is a lot louder on the ride side than the left then it is the timing chain. i replaced mine on my z400 before i got my yfz a few months ago.

Your in luck... I just got mine back from the shop because my Z did the same thing.... Umm yeah... your cam chain went bad which causes your valvues to tick
