I was wondering with 400ex's do they just not have much power when your dragging and you shift into 5th gear? Also what else could I add besides boring my 400ex that I don't have in my signiture to give it more power?

thanks

You want to go faster? Or have more acell? For more acelleration, add a tooth on the front, but that will lower your acelleration.

I'd like to keep good acceleration and also go faster

or you can spend a few dollors and go out and buy a stage 1 hot cam for about $250-$300 and you can notice the change in the power i know i sure did

if u go bigger on the front sprocket then it will only make ur power loss i n 5th gear more noticable. if u want more accel. and top speed then u could put a hotcam stage 1 or stagew2 cam in and that would help alot.

Go with a power-up jet kit for the carb. You'll have to learn how to ride all over again. I picked the Stage 2 kit from Moose Works. It comes with jets and a K&N filter, and prefilter. It gave lots more low and mid ranger power. I head good things about the FMF jet kit too.

And yeah... 5th gear w/ a stock sprocket set-up means 5th gear is pretty much nuthing more than an overdrive that's easy to bog down.

go with a 36 tooth rear sprocket instead of the 16 tooth front, gearing will be very close to the same but you can still use the case saver. you can get hotcams for like $125 on ebay. when i ran the 16 tooth front i could still pull 5th without a problem.
