were these ever available to the public? i found a site that sells old dirtwheels magazines and there was an article in one where a 300ex had a laeger frame setup to run an xr600 motor.

No, those were never production quads but project quads.

I've seen a Laeger framed 300ex on Ebay before with the 300ex engine I believe.

the two quads posted are 250r frames with 300ex plastic. i rmember seeing the white quad in DW. they used the 300ex plastic to help it stand out a little

you might have seen one like that, but these are 300 frames. look at the frame tubing right under the side of the plastic. see how it has an inclined angle? 250's are pretty much flat across the top. oh and the 250r frame are much longer than these. from grab bar mounts to where the bumper mounts is much shorter than the 250r's.

maybe they just used 250r geometry?

I remember reading about the white xr600 quad in the "hot rod quads" a while back in dirtwheels. They said it was a special frame laegers produced just for the xr600 motor, and the extra parts needed came from a 300ex. I'm not positive since i've never seen the red one before, but i'm pretty sure that's a 350x motor bored to 400, in a laegers frame, with 250r geometry. I think that's what that quad on ebay was a while back too.

well being that it's a 350x motor. those were kickstart, but GOKI made an electric start for them. they were pretty expensive though.

nevermind, that's not a goki starter... i didn't really look at the picture to verify i just figured it was. i'm not sure what kind of motor that is now. because it has the same starter/stator cover as a 300ex/250x. but it has dual exhaust ports? i'm so confused.

350x top end? i don't know. this thing is weird

Aha! I got it. Its a different machine. Look at the seat in the one picture with the E-start bottom end and then look at the seat on the kickstart bottom end quad.
The E-start seat is black and the kickstart seat is red.

actually i think the seat and fenders are just off in that picture. the black thing that looks like a seat is just the tank i'm pretty sure

The 300ex Leager frame could be ordered from Leager all the stock parts suppose to fit. You could buy the rolling chassis that included the a-arms steering stem tire rods swing arm. You could run 250r or 300ex or 250x suspension. J Schell and Harold goodman rode the 300ex's in the national races in pro-am 4 stroke. I built one of these machines myself. It has 250r suspension and brakes. It has +4 +1 a- arms and a minus one swing arm(88 250r). Mine has a 250x motor bored and stroked to 416cc. Schells was a 350x motor or at least the top end is. These are great machines. The rolling chassis was about 6500.00. I hope this may help.
