mine is brand new and it ticks....since the 1st time i rode it. Should it be adjusted??? Thought it was normal?

I can't remember the exact hours, but if you bought a brand new quad from the dealership, they should include a free valve check after a few hours of riding on the quad.

Some 400ex's do tick. Mine did and then I replaced the cam with a stage 2 hotcam and I adjusted the valves myself and I hardly hear it now.

when i took mine in for an adjustment..the guy told me u want to hear the ticking...its if you DONT hear it something is wrong...

yeah ^^^^^^^^ thats kinda true.. no noise and its toooo tight.. then you gonna have problems... a little noise (loose) is better than too tight.

valve adjusting and if that doesnt fail ur camchain might be strevhed and need replaced.

well said there are a 1000000000000 threads on this just go back to page 2 or 3 and u will see this and search. but u are new

yeah but the ticking should be to loud yeah u should hear a light ticking

ya oculd be timing chain... i streched mine.. really sucks i'd adjust the valves like every 10 mins finally i said **** it and took it to a shop and paid a good 400$
