Ok, So next week I'm leaving to go down to tennessee. My cousins house where I live is in the middle of nowhere. I am afraid I wont be able to find 110 octane down there so I'm going to bring 20 gallons down there with me via four, 5 gallon tanks. I have 2 that I use regularly but I found so that were sitting on a shelf in my garage. They are plastic but were used for kerosene probably a few years ago. They are bone dry but still have the fumes of kerosene in them. Basically I'm wondering if it would be ok to fill those up with 110?

What part of Tn are you going to? I live just across the state line and I may be able to tell you where to buy it.

Agree. don't worry about it.

I'd put a timy bit of fuel in there jsut to swish around to get rid of the dust. The kerosene however won't hurt a thing.

what color are they? i know in wisconsin that it is illegal to have gasoline in a container that is not red. If i am correct kerosene containers are blue? Laws may be different in your state though, just given you a heads up.

Down south we don't have very many gas station attendants..just about everything is self serve.

I don't think he will have a problem.

Not sure of what day you will be arriving but we are racing Saturday about an hour north of Nashville at 800mx and then Sunday we are running a Harescramble in Vanleer Tn (about 45 minutes west of nashville). Come join in on the fun.

most are self serve here, but even self serve stations have attendants. they watch for things. i know people that have tried to do this and gotten told no...

My grandfather always ran 1/10th of a tank of kerosene through any motors he ever rebuilt on it's first tank. He said it helps clean it.

Must work too. I still drive a '76 Ford he rebuilt in 1982.
