I dont like it one bit. thats taking the essence of MX away. Silent :huh i just cant see myself sitten behind a starting gate and all you hear when the gate drop is quiet whining sound. no thunderous roar no smell of race fuel. i really hope this isnt whats to come. just my opinion

No one is going to start a flam fest. A thread is ment to have the subject to be discussed with a adults manner. I won't flame you but I will retaliate from a flame. I just want a simple explanation for your post.:)

that things sweet
people need to accept innovation and id say this could very well be the future
dont get me wrong it will never give u the same feeling as a gas powered engine or create the same kind of feeling when ur standing by the gates but i think its great that people are continually trying to add more to our sport

what happens when you get mud and chit in the engine or near it wouldent it over heat or f-uck up the eltrical system?
I dont know about it i rather have gas power. i mean how much polution could they make over cars. Now eltrical power cars is a good idea. IMO

Yeah but then you using gas. So that gas your using could be used to a gas power quad.

Who's gonna mod your engine?

Curtis Sparks?

GT Thunder?

Genral Electric?

I think having one as a scooter would be cool. Like a mountain bike you don't have to pedal.

I'd be amped to put a paddle on it and take it to Glamis.

Wonder what holds it all together? Nuts and Volts, I imagine.

If I were in charge of marketing, I'd start an ad campain that went,

" Check out the Toaster 600 ......CURRENTly SHOCKING MX riders all over the world!

yes but to most, this isnt adding to our sport. instead of guys like mark baldwin working on our bikes, we'll have bill gates sitting in the pits. thats not an improvement IMO.

I'd take a bbr110 over that "thing" anyday.

Maybe just slow trail riding it would be fine because it is quiet. I wonder how much torq they have.

400exrules
08-25-2006, 09:35 PM
yah, they need to make one in a quad form, for hunters who use their quads to ride out to their stands etc.

I think alot of you are underestimating the potential these things could have. I know there is nothing that compares to the smell or sound or the feel of raw power that a gas powered engine has, but without that involved you would be suprised how decent electric powered bikes could be...

-Electric motors can create tons of low end torque, i think more than a gas engine of equal hp
-Consistancy... no tuning for temperature or elevation changes...
-Aftermarket, different batteries, voltage regulators, controllers, motors and other things could potentially be done(if you've ever seen an electric golfcart that can do burnouts, wheelies, and reach some pretty decent speeds you know what I'm talking about)
-The element could probably be shielded and protected against, dust wouldnt be an issue, no oil to get dirty and change; large amounts of water could pose a big problem, but smaller amounts of moisture wouldn't be...

I know there are the disadvantages, and I would probably never buy one myself but I think they have better potential than most of you think. You can always put cards on the spokes or get a speaker to play you a little BRAAAAP BRAPPP... :D
