I am wanting to clean up the bars on my KFX. I have already put the reverse, nuetral, and temp light in the hood so I can get rid of the black blob.(so I've heard it called) I am still trying to find a place to put the key switch or debating to do away with it all together. I know that I want a DRD reverse lever that mounts to the Brake reservoir clamp. I have also purchased a carb mounted pull choke from ebay. What I would like to do is get rid of the intire start button/hi-lo beam/switch box and possibly wire up a yz style kill switch for a start button if it is possible.Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any suggestions or know of other ways to clean up the controls? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Go to www.z400central.com and look in the FAQ section, it shows how to wire it all up.

I couldn't find anything about wiring it up for a starter button.

Hey thanks Peewee! That helped me alot. Yes I am a member there also but, I dont use that site as frequently. Jonboy is my login there also. Those pics really help out, mine is an 04' as well so the wire colors should be identical. I plan on keeping the headlights, will this prevent me from using them I do quite a bit of night riding so I want to keep them. Where should I mount the key switch? Or should I do away with it?

Hey that looks pretty good. Do you have any problem with mud getting in the switch.

I decided to keep my key switch for the ability to turn the lights off and on and, as for a little security from thieves. I made a stainless plate to hold it and polished it up for looks. If I could figure out how to post pics I'll post it for others to see.:)

I got a ASV clutch lever with the hot start button on it and used it for the reverse lever. Then I got a Pingel kill switch and also a dual button Pingel switch. One of the buttons turns on the lights and the other one is the start button.
