I race a 450 with a HRC and I have a 416ex with some vavle work mainly stock.

We were side by side till about 4th gear then the 450 pulled away pretty good. The cam I have though is for tourque. I race XC

Correct, My cam is for tourque for muscling around in the woods. I ussualy never even hit 4th gear in the District I race at.

all depends on the rider, 2 friends of mine rode with me recently on an Mx track, they both have YFZ450s, one is slightly modded and the other is a very heavily modded ex race bike, I could keep with both of them and even took one of them on a corner, I have a full system , K&n and a hot cam, if you have a reasonable amount of power and you know how best to use it you can keep with most quads out there, that where practice comes in, knowing exactly what you quad is best at and getting the most out of it is what its all about.

I've never raced a stocker, but I have no problem pulling away from lightly modded 450's. Top end and acceleration.
