Faster where? Faster how?

If you're talking about an average drag race: Based on the experiences I've had with both quads, in showroom stock condition it's likely to be a close race.

But when you start modding them the difference becomes clearer. Dollar for dollar (and even in absolute terms) the upside potential of the 250r is higher than the EX. And that's worth mentioning because there aren't too many stock 250rs running around anymore.

The 250R and the 400EX are about the same.
In a long drag race the 400 wins.
If it's a short drag the 250R wins. (Most likely)

stock down to every bolt I've heard it has more power. but as you stated the potentiol of a 2 -stroke $ - power wise its unbelevable

A Stock 400 and a Stock 250r both top out a 68 MPH. Thats what they said in the magazines. I read a past dirt wheels issue. They found a legendary 250r and had a 400ex and a banshee. The 400ex and 250r were very close but the 400 won by just a little.

I would say 250r. I think there top speed is faster than a 400ex!

I would say that both would be very close stock. However, mod for mod... and the more you go the greater the impact, the 250r should be able to walk all over a 400EX unless it is very sick.

I herd from a salesman at a local honda dealer, that stock out of the crate a Honda 400ex kills 250r's.. he said 250r's and banshees are rather slow bikes until u start putting money in them

the salesman at your local dealer is an idiot...he prolly thinks the old Cr500s were slow too...people downplay 2 strokes so much now days, its pretty sad...kids now days are thinkin the 400s, and 450s are the fastest thing there is when a decent built R or shee or LT walks all over them
