well i was out the other day riding in my backyard,not hard,just putting. my rear brakes started dragging and was getting worse but i didnt even use my rear brakes.when i pulled it into the garage,the rotor was very,very hot. anyone have this problem? is it time for a rebuild on the caliper?

yep i did matter in fact the rotor got to 150 degrees, your brakes r wore to the metal which is causing your rotor to drag and get hot so buy new brake pads.

A few years ago I put new pads on the rear and went out on our track. After a lap or so it felt like the motor was dogging out real bad. Limped back to the shop, looked things over and saw the rear rotor was glowing red and this was in daylight, a bit more than 150* :p

After everything cooled down I noticed the brake pedal was returning after being pushed down. It had seized similar to how the swingarm pivot bolt is known to seize.

Solution:
Remove the brake lever. Clean the pivot shaft, apply some grease and reinstall on a regular basis. It was a PITA to remove the first time.

Thse had about 10 minutes of time on them:ermm:

hey JOEX my pads were worse than yours are I couldnt even push my bike out of the garage.

how's the caliper slides,and r u running a block off plate?

I have not had a chance to take it off to check the slides and yes i am running a block off plate.

yeah one time i was like in 5th gear flyin down the road on my blaster when i was little and the pads got stuck and i pulled over and my rotor turned like a a blueish purple color and was smoking. haha still dont know what happened
