I haven't been up on my bible (450r manual) readings but could you enlighten us as to what the ECT sensor is and where it goes? Maybe a picture if possible? I'm trying to get people to help yeah cause I don't really know or can't think straight currently.:p
Bump
When in doubt, replace it.:D

ECT sensor = Engine Coolant Temperature sensor
I believe there's just one wire connected to the sensor (it grounds directly to the engine). Yellow/blue I think. It makes it's way to the CDI--almost certainly by way of a connection somewhere into the wiring harness. Reconnecting it should be simple. Just find the broken wire.
