I am on the phone with Jeremiah's mother, Brenda, who wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, August 23, is Jeremiah's 27th Birthday!!! And on the 27th it is his and Jamie's 1st wedding anniversary.
She says that Jeremiah is doing very good and can ride a good wheelie in his wheelchair right now. She and Jeremiah's dad, Jimmy, are busily remodeling Jeremiah's bathroom and a few other areas of his house for easier access.
She also says that it looks like he might get to come home for weekends and have rehab in Louisville 5 days a week for the next five months.
He plans on heading out to the Ballance National to join the ranks of spectators.
He wants everyone to know that he has read every email and every card that people have sent to him. And he really enjoys having people keeping him in mind.
At this time there is still a lot of healing to do with his injury and no hard and fast final outcome is written in stone at this time. Everything is healing on schedule and we have strong hopes for future gains. At this time Jeremiah is in a wheelchair and is not able to move his lower body at all. This does not mean that he cannot do most everything else he wants to do, he just has to sit while doing it.
He is wearing a back brace at this time to keep his spine in alignment. He should be wearing it for the next 12 weeks or so.
Jeremiah is so very lucky man to have so much going for him after this type of injury. He has the ability to do so much with a few limitations.
The outpouring of love for Jeremiah has been incredible. If wishes alone can make him better, he will be fine in no time. Until that happens though, keep your finger's crossed and be safe.
