A arms and swing arms

what is the advantage of makeing the swing arm longer and making the a arms a +2. also im planing on setting up my 400ex for mx and xc wat should i do to the a -arms and swingarm or should i jus keep that stock.

the +2 arms will make the atv wider which in return allows or better cornering the longer swingarm moves the weight bias more towards the front thus keeping the front end lower off of jumps and help to keep the front end coming off the ground out of corners. You are in a tough situation wanting to set it up for both mx and xc depending on how tight the trails are you won't be able to use +2 arms for xc but having stock arms for mx you will loose the stability. One thing that will help is to have your rear shock converted to a dual rate lowered ride height and buy a set of front shocks with lowered ride height, this will lower the center of gravity and not feel so tippy in stock form.
