I was riding at the local slate dumps
this weekend. We came across a hillclimb trail that ive hit several times before. Anyhow started up the hill in second and started bogging but I still had power, being that the hill was wooded it was hard to see far up the hill. about half way up there was a downed tree branch in the middle of the trail. When I hit it it caused me to lose almost all momentum, as a last ditch effort I downshifted into first (bad idea) as I did the front stood straight up, throwing me off the back. As i landed on my feet I pushed the bike back down and pulled the brakes, as I hit the rear brake the bike stood striaght up again, second time I jumped back on, right as I did the quad hit a tree and stopped. No damage only a really bad charly horse on my leg from the grab bar.
Lesson learned survey hill climbs before hitting them, even if its a hill youve done before
