What are people's beliefs about the next step from the big factory productions?

Will Honda answer with EFI on their 450R? Most definately yes, whether it be 2008 or later. But a better question...Will Honda create a big bore to compete with the 700R or the KFX700? I am still wanting to see Honda make a 650EX with at least some of the same amount of attention that the 450R got during development. A lightweight (comparitively speaking), EFI, reverse having, dominating balls to the wall 650EX.

Will suzuki do it?

Where is KTM with their own quad, 450 or big bore?

Anyone hear anything?

Yeh. In the power category they could easily beat any other production quad out there but i wonder if they can beat the suzuki in the handling department.

I know KTM Bikes are fast but don't handle as good as they should. Hopefully they do there research and come out with a MX ready quad and a XC Ready quad. And Hopefully it cost under $7500. I have a feeling it will be around $8500 - $10000

HAHAHA. You guys get everything soooooo cheap in USA. A new, stock YFZ costs around 12K here. If a performance quad came out for under 10 grand here it would be a miracle. lol :D

I've heard that the KTM engines are.....really potent? Are they noticeably stronger than your typical yamaha, honda, or suzuki quad? anyone made a hybrid and done a good honest comparison to a production bike?

We still need to address the big bore issue, any one else losing faith in honda for a mean 650 or above?

Yeh. I dont think the 650 will ever happen. They just seem to be focusing on improving what they have instead of bringing out new things on the market. The KTM 520 or 525 engines are insane. I rode one then got on a yamaha YZF426 that was piped jetted and it felt slow. If they use that engine in a good race ready chassis it would be an awsome quad.

I would love to see a Honda 650 or 700 EX that would compete with the Raptor. It's almost like Honda doesn't really want to build high-perfromance quads anymore. It's almost like the 400EX is as hi-perf as they really want to make and only built the 450r for financial/business reasons.

I really like Honda as a corporation. They are forward thinking (loooooong term) with amazing R&D abilities. But sometimes they just don't build the stuff that I want them to build. When that happens, I'm forced to go elsewhere....(cough--Yamaha--cough, cough).

i see honda as a benchmark of quality over quantity. they would rather make only a few quads have have them all kick arse then build 50 quads and have them be only nice.

would a 650 or higher powerplant be cool in a 450r chassis...hell yeah, but i don't see it happening. i would be surprised if they didn't come out with a rhino type vehicle now that they are getting popular to race. if the raptor 700 was 'the' race quad then they would make one too, but the 450r is kicking arse so why waste the time. they could make a trx450x like they make a crf450x that comes with a few more creature comforts instead of a straight up race bike. that would be very popular i think.

Is that not what they did with the 06/07 models?

why do they need a 650..a hoped up 450R will outrun a 700 or 660 raptor..

Once you start modding a 450, you start losing reliability. That may be alright for the guy that races and is serious about riding. But for the average joe that just wants something to ride every once in a while, a big bore quad is more suitable.

I don't think Honda will ever build a bigger sport quad than the 450r. They would definitely lose sales from the r, and at this point they are not going to do that. As for the KTM it will come and yes ktm engines are very very potent, and ktm's come with far better standard equipment than that of their jap conterparts. If they use the same philosophy on their quads it will be a very very good quad.

I think Honda and Yamaha Should make something that could compet with the BRP Baja edition. That thing rocks!

you can always put a 520 big bore kit on a r. Gets ya alittle closer Doesnt cost that much. Grind the case a bit. Killer torque. Until we get a production BB from Honda we'll have to make due with whats available. I would like the quad to be bigger for bigger riders.
