whats wrong?

hey guysi have a 2004 400ex. everytime i start it the motor gets super hot when only running for maybe only 1 minute..and i have to constantly check the oil in it..i have no clue whats wrong with it...and i think its burning oil...my dad says that he thinks the choke is always on when the yellow lever lever says its off...but alll i know is that it gets hot when only running for a short time..please help me..?

Is it running rough? If you're air/fuel mixture is running lean then I've heard of it getting hot.
