i was just wondering what skid plate i should get. im leaning towards pro armor or armidillo anybody have any expirence with them? thanks.

get the pro armor. they r the best. they r 1/4 in. thick aluminum. and they r really strong. i have one and i hit a rock that was like 2ft around and it bent my a-arm. didn't even effect the plate.

in this pic u can see it a little.

I found a place a while back that makes stainless steel skid plates, and they sell for less than most aluminum ones. It's worth looking in to.

i would stay away from steal. it's real heavy and it is more pliable than aluminum(which means that it will bend easier) just my $.02

hold on a sec. Steel more pliable? not quite there buddy. steel is more ductile, which means it can be bent and re-bent. aluminum is a softer metalic alloy and will bend easier than steel and is not nearly as ductile and more likely to crack if you try to bend it back. Plus it is stainless steel so it is not as ductile as normal steel but is MUCH stronger than aluminium.

But i would stay away from the stainless ones for a few reasons
1 being that they are stronger and are harder on other parts of your quad and transfer more of the impact to the swingarm.
2 is that i have heard of them cracking instead of bending.

I've had nothing but trouble with aluminum guards, so I went back to a stock one. I got it for $20 from a dealer that was parting out two new 400ex's. I hate paying $80-100 for a piece of aluminum that bends as easily as the stocker.

For the 300ex i would get the prm. You get the most ground clerance with it. the other choices they are talking about are good also.

i had an armadilo swinger on the 300ex for about 5 years...it took a beating and never bent into the rotor or chain/sprocket. anything that is at least 1/4" thick will do ya well

the stock ones on the '05s(and up) r garbage. they r plastic and theydon't bent the shread. if u have a plastic one then u will be better with any other one.


the steel ones bend easier, the aluminum is more rigid and it doesn't flex as easily.
