if it is possable it would cost so much, it would be easier to buy a new liquid cooled quad

YES they do make it but u have to dump $2500 into it for a moddified block, radiator, and special mounts. unless you want them to do it then it costs even more $$$ i agree with 400exrider99 it is like buying a whole new quad cept u are still driving the same one might as well buy a ltz/dvx/kfx400

ok i guess start naming them off then i know the frame is weak on the 03s but oh well it was a first year atv i guess it sucks so bad but gust didnt do so bad on it last year so say what you want about atvs being better with the mods on my 400 i havent lost to a z in a long time but theres none around here with heavy mods but i still believe a z is a superior quad in stock form and i have a 400ex

i have rode a ltz in stock form(suspension wise, not motor wise) and i thing the 400ex is superior. it sits lower and it is more comfortable. it is less tippy and the stock shocks r better. i think that it is more stable at higher speeds and my 400ex felt faster than the z400. i know the z400 is faster, but it doesn't give u that thrill that i get with the power of the ex. also. the z400 has a water pump problem that didn't get fixed until '05. the frame didn't get fixed until '05 either. in my opinion the ex is a much better machine and there is not a bad score in the reliability cayagory at all(unlike the z400). just my $.02. i don't like the z400 and that is why i bought a 400ex. and oone more thing. it might help if u use puncuation a little.

aye they forgot to teach me in college about punctuation you work on your spelling and i will work on my punctuation yes the ex is more comfortable to me that is why i bought it yes the ex is more reliable IMO the only things that sway me to the z400 are it being liquid cooled, reverse, and faster but like i said there has been very few z400s beat me so really the speed of them isnt a factor

yes they do but they also geared them down IMO making them less of a threat to the 450r's lol that is going to make a few 450 owners mad ive ridden a stock 05 and it just doesnt have the power mine does lol

Say what you want about the Z, Yeah it had some problems in the begining but, the water pump problem was a recall on the 05' model. That at least suzuki acknowledged that it was a problem. Honda never did recall their issues. Prior year models didnt have the mag cover. It has alot better suspension with fully adjustable shocks w/ rezys and better Fuel delivery now.

The 400ex also had its first year problems with leaky fittings from the oil cooler return lines. A weak cast aluminum swing arm. The suspension IMO is STILL under par from most of the quads being built today. And it took them from 1999 to 2005 to figure out that it needed reverse.

it took suzuki 3 model yrs to acknowledgfe that problem. to me, that sounds like they recalled the '05s because they were tired of being annoyed by the consumers

The 05 model was the only year that they used the magnesium cover, and that to my knowledge is the only year they had water pump issues. It only took 6 months to start the recall.

Do you remeber what issue that was, because I have kept all of mine since 1990. I dont recall ever reading about that problem on the Z. DW did say that the Z would get pretty warm before the cooling fan would kick on but that was because of the thermal switch. That was also improved on the 04 model.

Truthfuly I am tired of arguing about whos quad is better. You like your Honda 400ex and thats fine. I do happen to like them also. I was debating on buying one until I weighed the options on the 400ex vs the Z400. I liked the fact that the Z was water cooled and had reverse and it had more torque(In stock form). Also I have always been a Kawasaki Man and as soon as I heard the KFX was built I was sold. The sole intention of this thread was for a person wanting to make his 400ex water cooled and was needing info. Obviously he likes the water cooled option as well. I hope they found out what the were needing to know:rolleyes:

Kawasaki doesn't have one. they have a z400 with green or orange plastics. i would have bought one, but then i found out it was a suzuki and i hate suzukis. now i am glad i didn't buy one, because i am much more comfortable on the ex

LOL talk about high jacking a thread. u would be better of purchasing a crf450 engine if u have a stock engine and want something liquid cool i have seen some pretty crazy "hybrid" type projects. and if you have a stock engine and are going to dump 2500 into a 400ex engine might as well get a 450 IMO
