1- Exhaust system

3- drop-in cam
4- High comp piston ( 12.5:1 )

I'm doing trails and dragging with friends

I'm not positive, but I think hes asking which brands are the leading performers..

I've learned that most brands are a preference, in most cases the dyno numbers are usually pretty close to each other, some perform in different ways, i.e. hp and torque..

1- Exhaust system

Full or slip on? looking for low end power, top end? got to tell us more. most people like the HMF (including me!). or the sparks X-6, Yosh and some others. it is up to you, but i know alot of people will suggest the HMF

2- Airfilter and jets

I like K&N but many dont, some just prefer a quality foam filter like UNI, or twinair. jets, just talk to whoever you get the pipe from and they can help you with jetting for your elevation and mods.

3- drop-in cam

Hotcams stage 1 would be good, but really depends on what bore you are going with and how you ride. if you are going big bore and ride fast alot a stage 2 would probably be better.

4- High comp piston ( 12.5:1 )

First off, you do know that you will have to run race fuel with that high of a comp ratio. wiseco is probably the easiest brand to find, but JE and ross seem to be a little better and more accurate in their compression ratios. what bore are you looking at? stock, or going larger?

Our pump gas here is 96 and 98 unleaded octane so we shouldn't have any issues with 12.5:1 comp. I know some guyz use 13:1 with our unleaded pump gas.

What about Nmotion pipe?..I'm thinking of CP high piston...what do u think?

NA 98 is not really enough plus race gas has lead in it so it will make it run cooler and better lubricates the top end.

98 RON? -------> the method used in much of the world
98 MON?
98 (R+M)/2? ------> the method used in the US

If your getting 98 octane at a pump and it's not advertised as a racing fuel than it's probably 98 RON. RON is an octane rating method that yields higher numbers than any other method.

(approximately)
98 RON = ~88 MON = ~93 (R+M)/2

98 RON won't cut it in a 12.5:1 400EX under all but very unusual circumstances.
