Has anybody heard if the Outlaw 525 will be able to compete in the next GNCC coming up. It would be cool if Parton could come back with the new 525 and spank the heck out of Cecco.

CHADHIX

The maximum limit is 525 cc, And that only applies to the pro afternoon class. There is no doubt Steph will be kickin on the new machine!!! I dont think she will have it by the next race though:(

Ok so I heard.... first versions had a mix of both... will the new Outlaw have that fixed? Or will the 07 500 have it fixed.... and on a side note .... nuts and bolts aside from the cost difference, weight and motor size... would the average rider really notice the difference between the 500 (499) and 525 (509...).
I have not seen the HP rating on the 500 so that maybe what I am missing. Let me know cause I am thinking of getting the 500 and saving several bucks...

Thanks for your time.

Yo CHADHIX! About the 525... Do you know if the Jan delivery data applies to all dealers who ordered one? Might you know also if it's gonna be early or late Jan? I have a deposit on one here in upstate NY.

CHADHIX
10-07-2006, 06:52 AM
I know my two will be here in Nov! We already received Stephanies last week so she could race it today at the Powerline!!! This machine is even better than I thought it would be. The one Stephanie received is one of their factory test mules.(pre production). I will try to post pics asap. Everyone root for her today to put that new machine out front!!!:D :D :D :D

Does anybody know if the 525's coming out in Jan will have the new style rear rims or the new steel steering stem?

In the parts list for the Outlaw the rims after 11/01/06 are a new part number. I was hoping this is the fix for the a-arms hitting the inside of the rear rims.

My dealer has 2 coming in and I can't quite decide if I want to put that deposit down on it yet or not.

They do come with new wheels on the rear...They increased the inner bell size. There is also a new steel center link. The link is available now through your Polaris dealers.

So how did she like the 525? What mods was she able to have on it? I heard she had stalling problems in the water crossings. Any pics of it?:D

calds650
10-09-2006, 08:07 AM
From the photos I saw she had the Custom Xis on. I hope what ever bolts on the my 06 Outlaw will bolt on my 07 525. my Works Black Widows work great on my Outlaw now.

CHADHIX
10-09-2006, 12:48 PM
She said that she loved the new machine. It did however take on water in the airbox...after seeing the pics of that mud hole I see why!!! All of the bolt ons from the 06 will fit the 07. I do have pictures of it when I received it here at my store. I will try to post. The machine she raced was a pre production unit that they had been testing at Polaris. Stephanie is going to do a full write up on it here as soon as she gets some extra time!! She will fill you all in on the details. Wait till you guys see the new improved steel centerlink, It is about twice the size of the old steel one. I am still shaking my head on why they used aluminum on the originals. The steel center links will be avallible this week to order. Anyone who wants one PM me!

TYLER329
10-09-2006, 01:32 PM
CHADIX I already have that centerlink in my inventory. It is friggin huge compared to the stock one!!!!!! I already have one of my customers with one. If you need one right away I can UPS it to you........for 1 million dollars.

katch26
10-09-2006, 02:10 PM
now youre talking about the center link on the pro steering system right? If so is this just a problem with the outlaw and not the predator?

kc8pnd
10-09-2006, 03:16 PM
The predator no longer uses pro steering. It has a normal steering stem like the rest of the ATVs. I want to do away with my pro steering but i have a longer set of a-arms that use longer tie rods, i think they are + 2, not sure if i could find a set of tie rods if i did away with my PRO steering. Also the outlaw steering is way different then the predators (I think).

katch26
10-09-2006, 03:24 PM
I have the same bike youve got and I was wondering if this problem was only being seen in the outlaws

kc8pnd
10-09-2006, 03:35 PM
I think you can get the better center link for the older predators 06 <. I have the stock link on mine and have not bent it. I hit a tree with my right front tire and bent the a-arm and frame and never hurt the tie rod or center link.

Many people racing and riding are having to replace these, some get bent bad, some just wear out.

I calloed Polaris yesterday and they said that the Outlaw 525 will have Fox shocks and not the Ryde FX's that were in the pictures. They also said that it will have the Maxxis radials instead of the Dunlops in the brochure. They make things so hard on themselves. I hope that the front have piggbacks.

I hope they have rebound adjustment

well what is she gonna say, shes a sponsored rider. Matt Smiley said hed never go back to a straight axel quad....next race on the Predator

10-11-2006, 11:27 AM
i guess this doesn't exactly go with the thread but does anyone know if it will be possible to get rid of the PRO steering on an 05 predator and bolt in the normal style steering system like whats going on the 07's?

katch26
10-11-2006, 11:30 AM
sure I dont know how but if you look on ebay there is alot of them for sale, id imagine thats where they came from.

kc8pnd
10-11-2006, 02:29 PM
I am almost 100% sure you can. The frames look the same, instead of the PRO there is a bearing that goes in its place. I think you just need the new stem and tie rods and your good to go.

TYLER329

SO now that a few are out there can anyone tell me if they did away with the mix of nuts and bolts and go all metric or standard?
I have been told that my shop will have their first ones in January and I hate the thougt of having to deal with both.. .

i would even settle for a phone number to call and ask myself if anyone could get me the number......

Thanks Craig

The hardware on the 525 should be a lot more user friendly, judging my the one I raced at Ironman.

TYLER329
10-31-2006, 06:00 AM
Just confirmed on our dealersite that our two 525's leave the factory on 11/22/06. They will not say what the shocks will be so maybe there is a chance they will still be the Fox shocks. I don't think that those Ryde FX shocks can be revalved. I already have the HMF slip on and Hiper beadlocks waiting for it!!

Gallagher interview (http://www.atvpress.com/atvvideos/gnccatv/gnccatv200613johngallagher.wmv)

The wife okayed a new quad so she can have my Raptor. I just cannot decide yet though between the 700R SE and the new 525. The 2 major problems with the Outlaw have been fixed, the centerlink and the a-arms hitting the rear rims. But it still scares me to get one of the first "new" model bikes. So my question is to you dealers...

After the first initial shipment of 1-2 bikes per dealer will you be able to get more bikes in? or is the 525 going to be very limited. Will people that want a 525 even be able to get one?

TYLER329
11-01-2006, 08:35 AM
Starting in Feb. they will be much more attainable. That is when we were supposed to get them anyway, getting them now is just kind of a bonus. I raced a 06 Outlaw last year and don't know what you are talking about when you said the rear rims rubbed. I would like to know more about that. Was it a stock Outlaw or did it have aftermarket wheels on it. Your're right on the centerlink. It is much better now. My buddy is still going to go ahead and buy the SE Raptor. He just likes yamaha better i guess. I personally feel like the 525 should be a much better machine but we will wait and see.

Evasiveone
11-01-2006, 09:02 AM
Thanks for the response.

As for the rear rims every single Outlaw I have seen has had these marks on the inside of the rear rims. In most cases the owners did not even notice them. Here is a link to several pages of discussion about the issue with several pics.
A-arms hitting rims discussion and pics (http://predatorowners.com/index.cfm?action=thread&catid=99&topid=436&thrid=29752)

If you notice that as of 11/01/06 a new part number for the rear rims is used for the Outlaw. The new rim has a bigger inner bell.

I wish I knew which shocks were coming on the new 525!!!!

bradley300
11-01-2006, 09:08 AM
look at your rear wheels, there should be scratches all around where the a-arms hit them at full compression. polaris actually uses different wheels after november i think?? so if it a new quad, you probably dont have any issues. there is a huge thread about it on predator owners

TYLER329
11-01-2006, 09:09 AM
I'll have an answer on the shock thing in about 2 days. That wheel thing is wierd. I never realized that the wheel touched. Thanks for the info.

quadrider400
11-02-2006, 04:29 PM
So I noted in the other forum that there is a new rear wheel listed does anyone know if that is going to fix the rubbing problem...? What other issues are out there with the outlaw?
Thanks ....

Evasiveone
11-03-2006, 02:44 PM
The new rims should fix the a-arm rub. There was a problem with a weak center link but there is a new fix for that already by going with a steel centerlink. Some of the plastic was wearing a spot on the radiator, easy fix was just use a washer to space the plastic out a little. The only other problem I have heard of was the seat wanting to pop off, I have not heard any changes for that.

All in all very minor problems for a first year quad.

I saw a new 2007 white Outlaw 500 today. That white on the Outlaw looks bad*****. It did not have the Fox shocks though. It had the Ryde FX, I believe "Pro Series" is what it said on them.

I liked the way it looked and felt so I went ahead and put down a deposit on the 1st KTM 525 Outlaw they are getting. :D

It is not scheduled for delivery to them until Jan '07. Now for the 3-month wait.:blah:

Just found out yesterday that the 525 will have the Ryde FX shocks. I would guess that the cheaper shock was to offset the cost of the motor. I guess we will have to see how they work.

calds650
11-08-2006, 08:10 AM
:huh :cuss: I will have a set for sell it does not have compression and rebound adjustment the Outlaw needs the rebound for the desert. With out it is un-ride able at hi-speed

TYLER329
11-08-2006, 08:21 AM
Yeah that motor better rock to make up for how crappy the shocks are going to be. I mean they will be just like every body elses now. Polaris used to really have a plus with the fox shocks.

Not like very body else the 07 Polaris Outlaw shocks have gone back ten years in design. You now get compression and rebound adjustment on all shocks front and rear on all the 450 and most 400 now. Polaris made 5 steps forward with the Outlaw and new KTM engine and 15 back with the shocks if the due not have compression and rebound adjustment. With out those adjustments I will get bounces all over the place. If Polaris wants to race in the desert they will need better shocks. I am glad I have my Works.

Hey there, Im new to the post . I have a 06 Outlaw and my buddy has an 07 Outlaw. I have put on over 250 hours on it in 6 months and have had no problems with the rear rims or the center link. We mostly do some really nasty mountain trail riding and hill climbs with the machines. I am beyond happy with the machine. My neighbor has an 06 TRX450r and there is no way he can keep up with the Outlaws on the trails.

kc8pnd
12-12-2006, 01:48 PM
The swing arm :p, really I am sure a lot of stuff will, A-arms looks the same, steering stem, stuff like that. Wish I had a 510cc kTm to put in my pred hehe.

eerhard09
12-13-2006, 04:42 AM
I would imagine that almost all of the bolt on accessories that fit on the 06 Outlaw will since the chassis/body geometry didn't change from the '06 to the '07, just the motor as far as I know.

TYLER329
12-13-2006, 06:51 AM
actually from the engineering mule i saw there was other things changed. We know the fuel tank is bigger, choke is on the carb now so there is no metal gusset for the choke to mount on, Two of the cross rails in the frame up by the tank and carb were removed to save weight and not needed because of the lighter motor. So yeah alot of stuff should bolt on but they made alot of little changes to the bike along with the engine.

Seriously, I have not understood all the big secrets and all the information they hold back before the release of these quads. I can understand during developement not wanting the competitors to know what you are doing, but when we are weeks away from it's release its R&D should be pretty wrapped up. Why the big secrets? It is too late for the other manufacturers to make major changes to their 2007 models.

I say let the reviewers release their impressions of the bikes, unless they are afraid the reviews will be negative and if they are favorable reviews, it will help initial sales even that much more.

Yeah, I called a couple dealers (the only one's in this area) and they all said they will not budge much on the price. I think I am getting it for $7149 +tax/title. I got the same from each place i called.

I was originally wanting a 700R but the Yami dealer would not budge off of MSRP. So they have lost my business 4ever. With 3 more kids coming into riding age over the years that will mean something.

My Polaris dealer is also a Suzuki and Honda dealer and they do not sell any quads at MSRP no matter what the demand. They know what they need to make off of each unit they sell and do not get greedy. For that they will have a customer 4 life in me.

How many of us would actually pay MSRP for a new car. It may be hot right now but wait a few months and the price will drop down and people will remember who treated them right and who did not.

Yep, I would agree with that. We don't sell anything at msrp either. However we don't go bargain basement. You have to make something on each machine to stay in business. If you try to get greedy nobody will come back. If you are bargain basement you can't pay the bills. I would bet that we will sell the 525 for 7000.

I know my dealer is still holding strong n the Jan 22 date that it has been set at for a couple weeks. I know on Predowners.com, there are 2-3 others with the Jan 22 date as well. Hopefully it is only two more weeks away!

I know some dealers charge doc fees which I understand but Polaris pays one hour of set up a machine to each dealer. Set up and freight are included in the invoice price. The dealers that are charging it are jacking the customer!
