Ok, so, I am running cross country this year and this is like our 4th day of practice, and when I run, I get cramps on my right and left sides, like right below my ribs. It is sometimes worse than others. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? What are some ways to get rid of this?

Get in better shape

Seriously, as season goes on they should go away, but for now drink tons of water (over a gallon each day) and eat healthy.

Aye,
Once you get into shape it will get better. When you run you're using those oblique abdominals a LOT. You don't normally use them hardly at all. You may be in shape everywhere else.. but those muscles are probably a bit weak.

It can also be caused by dehydration. You may need some more fluids.

Improper breathing will also cause it.

Drinking carbonated drinks like soda or beer will also make it much much worse. ;)

it's also caused from inproper form of running

those cramps can be a result of twisting your torso side to side while pumping your arms when you run, the proper way is to pump your arms straight when you run, which will reduce the cramps and actually make you run faster

it also could be physical shape, but give it your all

all the cramps are are just muscles you have over worked... in this case because of breathing harder. they'll go away in time

its ok to drink lots of water, but don drink that much before the practice, runnin with a lot of watter in your body will give you that, its a part of the body, in spanish its called "vaso".

im not sure why a sodium filled drink (or snack) would make you feel better, it should make you feel bloated

I heard if you eat a half a jar of peanut butter, you will never have those cramps again!
