Is it possible to use a CR head gasket on a milled head???? Or is the gasket too thin? Stock 250R gasket is about .045, and I think the CR is .018........... Anyone???? Wilkin, beerock???

i'm running a milled head with a smaller gasket, and it works....but i did run into a problem and i'm not sure if its due to deto, or the rod bearings going. I haven't had time to look. But it ran fine for a year, with the setup. I'm making about 210 lbs of compression. So yes it works.

I had a CR gasket on a couple years ago, went to the dunes, and burned a hole straight through the piston!!! I was running ****ty gas at the time. I think i'm gonna stick to a stocker, so I don't have this problem again. I had a .030 custom copper gasket on, and was making 210 with worn rings......... I'm sure the .045 stocker with good rings will be up there in the 210's with the milled head.

depends on how much you mill the head, best thing to do is bolt er together an do a compresion check. 200lbs is MAX for pump gas an thas iffy at best.

Compression isn't the only thing happening inside your cylinder. Sure, it's important, but the shape of the chamber, the squish band and squish angle all affect your flame front and detonation issues.

I've typed it all out a dozen times, I don't have the patience to do it again today. Do a search for squish band, that's the key to your gasket thickness.
