My son has a '04 400ex that almost always has a very annoying squeek when riding, coming from one or both of the front shocks. I have checked the upper & lower mounting bolts to be shure they are tight. If I spray the shock mounting areas down with WD-40, it will usually go away for a while but always comes back.
It looks like the shocks may actually be rubbing on the mounting brackets, right where the bushings go. It has done this since it was bought new this spring. (it was a dealer left over model).
Has anybody found a permanent cure for this???

Replace the bushings in the shocks. When you put them back in, grease them really well and you shouldn't have any problems for a while.

You may, on the other hand, be able to get away with greasing the ones you have.

I just regreased all the bushings in the shocks, upper A-arms and lower control arms....my 04 400ex is quiet and smooth as butter up front now.
