I'm looking to get some info on new bars since my latest whipout. Currently, have those crappy stock bars. Want your advice on what type of bars are best for the money? Fly, Pro taper, Reth.???
Thanks.

my pro tapers havent bent yet, and they have had their share of the dirt.

I have renthals, I rolled my quad the first time out, and bent the steering stem 45 degrees, and the bars did not budge, they have been great to me.

renthal's are great for the money but if you can and want to tag or flexx bars are awesome, you may end up bending a steering stem with a lot of the aftermarket bars, but they make stronger stems too ;)

Im looking into the TAG kit made for the 400ex with clamps and bars for 200 bucks. Rocky Mtn has them, check it out...

Yup, I did the same thing, I bent my stem but my bars are straight. I wish I would of had some weaker bars now, stems are more expensive!

Maybe this is a dumb question but wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to buy some cheap bars and replace them in the event of a rollover than to buy bars that won't budge and replace your steering stem?

That was my point of this post above, I have 3 sets of fat bars in my garage sitting on the shelf cause I went with some normal sized bars instead.

i bent my stock ones.1st roll over. lol i bent them back with the help of a buddy. rolled it again and bent both sides this time. i had a crease near clamp. i bent it back again. rode it for awile. just bought a cheap pair at my local honda shop for $17. i'd rather spend 17 bucks on bars than whatever a steering stem costs. and a stem would be harder to change than just bars :)

Thanks for the advise fellow riders!!! I agree with the cheaper bar theory since the bars will bend and not the sterring stem. I did have to replace my stem and it was costly, well more costly than what I wanted to spend anyways. However, I also think that if the bars wouldn't have bent, then perhaps the stem would not have bent too. Either way a crash or roll-over usually will cost you something. Riding isn't free...
Thanks again for your input...twj_74

hey, i just got back from riding today and i rolled my quad real good. i hit this 6ft high berm and ocer shot it. instinctively i hit the brakes(bad idea). the quad stopped and i couldn't hold it up on the berm. i jumped off and the quad rolled 2 times and then landed on top of me(ouch). bars and sterreing stem were fine and the only thing i bent was the clutch lever. i would def. recommend the tags x-5 bars. they r great!!
