cam chain

i had a noise in my motor did not know what it was. took it to the dealer and said the cam chain was completly stretched out? I have never heard of this happin. Is there something deeper wrong? or is the dealer pullin my chain?

I wouldn't think anything deeper is wrong.. just streches. Unless your cam chain tensioner isn't working

eh it happens for sure. If they get really bad they can jump teeth and that is not good. I would ask to see the chain in person. Also an 02 CRF 450 cam chain will fit right in, is about equal to an aftermarket heavy duty unit, and is only about $25 from service honda instead of $90 for a stock 400ex one.;)

how hard is it to replace the cam chain?? how do ya do it? i was gonna throw in a new cam could i just do it then?
