What did I do wrong?

Im using a split gasket just one layer I was thinking this would be problems and anyway I got coolant seeping up through the threads on the head bolts/nuts. before I try this again with another gasket what might I of done wrong?

Did you torque the head properly and use copper spray on the mating surfaces?

it was torqued in increments to 21 foot pounds and I did use the copper spray on the gasket

Is your head perfectly flat? Did you spray both sides of the gasket, cylinder, and the head? New copper washers under the acorn nuts? I'm out of ideas after that.:ermm:

brand new head came with new copper washers sprayed both sides the coolant is seaping up through the threads on the head bolts The gasket is sealed other wise.
