ok i owned a 300 ex but then sold it for various reasons. Now i ride a kx 125. i am lokin to sell it soon and go back to 4 wheelers.

My dad will be spotting me a lot of the money and i will need to pay him back; also i ride maybe once a month so i do not need the fastest quad but i still want something significantly faster than the 300ex. Would a 400 ex be a good decision because i have found a lot of them around atlanta for fairly cheap. I might run a couple harescrambles and possibly a few races just for fun.
I know there are tons of aftermarket parts every where for them and they have good reliablilty

no doubt that the Z is a "better" quad it is liquid cooled and has reverse. but the 400ex is still a great bike it is a little out dated but parts are fairly cheap expecially the used parts which are very easy to find. the aftermarket for the 400ex is huge. with some mods you can make a nice 400ex that has plenty of power for the price and it will last forever. the EX is also a LOT easier to work on too if you ever had to fix it. i would say go for the EX since its cheaper and it will be a huge improvement over the 300ex. you can find a completly moded 400ex for around $3K a Z400 stock will be around 3300 or more
