i know that the stock gearing is different but other than that is the 06 faster than the 03' at all if so can you give an idea by how much?

no and i think its the other way around. the 99-04s are faster cause there front sprocket is a 15t where as the 05 and 06 is a 14t. that and the new ones are a bit heavier because of the reverse gear but not a noticiable difference.

sorry i guess i should have been more clear in my question. when i said faster i ment acceleration. but if i drop one tooth in the front that will pretty much even out the two bikes right? then it becomes a math of who is the better rider right?

what year of bike do you own? if 03 then yes dropping one tooth in the front will even out the two bikes basically.

The reason the 05'+ EX has a different front sproket than the earlier models is because the 05'+ got all new gear ratios within the transmission.

not quite. yess the 05/06 models have a smaller front sprocket but internal gear ratio's were also changed. the final drive ratios are very similar in stock form.

i thought older models have 14 tooth (99-04) then the newer ones had 15 tooth (05-07)
