Hey all you steering stabilizer fans, just wanted to see if anyone has heard this one yet. A buddy of mine went to the gncc race in st.clairsville ohio and was talking to some of the riders and was told that a stabilizer from a vw jetta is identical to the pep model and retails for 20 bucks at napa. the guy claimed all you have to do is fabricate the mounts and its a good to go system. Just wanted to see if this was bs or not.

anyone verify this?

i can verify this, i built one two days ago using a 70s bug steering dapenner (worked great) but you do have to make the mounting bracket on the steering stem

I'm in the process of doing this on my 250R, the stabilizer I got is for a 1976 VW Beetle, it cost $19.99 at AUTOZONE item #254375
Gabriel part#14004 they didn't have it in stock but, they ordered it and I got it within 2 days. I should be able to fab up the mounts for less than $5

If you guys come up with mounting hardware let me know I would be interested in buying a set. Sure beats $120 on up for a new stabilizer
