curtis sparks exhaust question

I was thinking about getting a curtis sparks exhause my questions was how loud are these pipes and what are your opinions on them I have a 400ex if that helps
also is there any difference between the ceramic coated ones?

the pipe is loud, real loud. it reads in 102 dec. at 2200 RPM, and around 108 wide open.

x6= good mid and top

x4= good all around power


get the stainless steal pipe. the ceramic ones rust over time. they look nice when they r new, but then the rust wears through and the ceramic coating starts to flake off. don't look too good. they don't list it on the site ( i don't think) but if u call them, u should be able to get the stainless steal pipe for the x6 and x4.

the sparks pipe is a great pipe. it make incredible power. one of the best pipes out there.

if thats to loud, make sure oyu keep it well packed and get a supertrapp endcap with disks.

how much quieter will it make it if I get the supertrapp endcap with discks and then repack it too?

They dont do the supertrapp style end on them anymore.

He has a modular system now, with a quiet core insert and spark arrestor.

The packing that comes in the sparks pipes is quality packing. I wouldn't repack it until it needs a repacking.

I haven't run the new style.

I'd jsut call up Curtis and ask. I'd imagine it's 98db. I highly doubt it would get it lower than 96db, but you never know. The smaller the pea shooter, the quieter it gets. ;)

I think I am goin to get a x-6 off of ebay then get the spark arrestor and quiet modular insert. 98decibles isnt bad but with out it its 108decibles wide open?:eek2: thats really loud,...so do you guys think I should get a sparks or I was also thinking abouta hmf or maybea yoshimura?

yosh is an excellent pipe for the 400ex. the quiet core brings it down to 93 dec. and it still makes good power with the quiet core installed. they r $400 at rocky mtn. for a full system
