im thinking of completely removing the air box from my quad.
will i gain any power by doing so. and will it hurt anything with
it being gone

It isn't stupid depending on where you ride. If you ride in a hrsh dusty area don't. If you want your machine to really breathe and gain some power, do it. I have an air box remove kit that I occasionally use depending on where I ride. Throttle response is stronger without the box. James Lucky makes a plate kit to remove it(samething I use) it's cheap and works great. I think it's $27 without the air filter or $85 with a k&n filter. It has to be used with a K&n and pre filter. Always use a prefilter on a k&N!!

I probly would not do it. It sould like a lot of work to gain little power. But I see a lot banshee doing it at the dunes. I would definaly use a K&N precharger if I were going to do this mod.

I talked to the guys at CFM and they said they are making an aluminum airbox with a lid.
