adjusting valves

i have an 86 suzuki lt 230 i just redid the top end and it has a valve tap now does anyone know how to adjust the valves i had a book but i cant find it and wanna go out riding tomorrow?

you need to know the valve specs. make sure the motor is cold! put the motor on top dead center on the compression stroke. and adjust the valves to their spec. i say get a manual though...
