with a 20 dollar gear joe schmoe can run 90mph.

top speed is the "NO SKILL" persons way to race.

that is not what i said. i said that it could keep up with a piped 450, and beat a stocker...you wouldn't believe me until you rode the bike. it was unbelieveable

first, whoever said that a banshee is quicker than a yz 250 is, well, i guess to put it delicately, due to such statements i will not put stock in any of his future statements...

second, yes, a stock 450 is faster than a stock banshee....

i was down at gordons well this morning, and put a hurting on a couple banshees.. one had t5s and clamp on K&Ns, the other paul turner pipes... not sure what else, but i cleaned house...

of course there was also a 450r that had a full sparks system, and he probably lined up next to me dang near 30 times, and got beat every single time... he was a persistant little bugger... i will say that our position would remain the same up the hill- meaning that he didnt catch me and i didnt pull away from him, so usually the distance i was ahead coming through the whoops, which was usually about 2.5 bike lengths, remained the same for the rest of the hill...

i know thats gotta piss a lot of people off pretty bad- losing to a stock piped yfz...

stock piped yfz can be very respectable with the right rider.

in the same instance, a guy with limited skills may be beat by a
cr125 (really limited skills)

the banshee hasnt changed much since day one.

its old tech. the aftermarket companies are the ones making money off the banshee, im sure sales have dropped alot after the 700rappy and yfz have become hits. and the 700 or the yfz will eat a stock banshee, so its a combo of it all

the 4 strokes are coming on strong, the banshee was made for so long there will be plenty of them around for a long time.

wonder how long the blaster will live after this ?
will yamaha plant seeds for a beginner 4 stroke (ltz250/trx250ex)

wow how stupid is this. Clearly u know absolutly nothing about quads, the banshee is a great quad but its nothing special. The banshee is only good in open areas where a 400ex, 250r, 450r would all beat a banshee in the woods. Yamaha, Honda, Kawi, Suzuki,Polaris,Can Am they all have good quads.

I thought this thread had died.

It's hard to compare technology that's over 2 decades old to todays bikes.

But take a Banshee and bring all it's shortcomings up with todays technology. It a very formidable bike on the track and in the woods. I may covert this thing to a woods bike to prove to all the none believers that it can be done and done well.

a- why try and prove anything to anybody
b- the non beleivers still wont beleive... people beleive what they want
c- of course it can be done- with enough money anything can
d- its true that banshees can rock, and have potential... im not saying either one is better than the other, but it would be ignorant not to recognize that the base 450 is heads and shoulders above the base base banshee...

I read through the last three or so pages, and this thread is funny stuff. I liked the one that posted a stock 450 will beat a piped shee....LMFAO not even a chance, if they both know how to ride a piped shee even against a piped 450, It's curtains for the 450.

lose the air box and a little porting and its gone.

450r all the way, even though i own a YFZ. And if it was YFZ vs. 450r, i would take the YFZ. JMO
