what exactly does the TPS do. i have an 06 450r and i ahve a different carb i plan on using in itbut it doesnt have that TPS stuff on it, will it hurt anyhting to run it?

The TPS is a sensor used by the CDI. The CDI adjusts the ignition timing a little depending on the throttle position. If the TPS is disconnected than the CDI just uses a default (full thottle advance, I believe) ignition map.
